Confession time, as a Mom I struggle with reading time. I know how important it is to read to my kids, I’ve seen the research, but at the end of a busy day sometimes the last thing I want is to hear the same story for the 400th time. So when we find a book that both the four year old and mom can be interested in, I get excited about it! That’s why I’m so excited to tell you about “Hey, Baby!: A collection of pictures, poems, and stories from nature’s nursery.”
“Hey, Baby!” was written by Stephanie Warren Drimmer and features over 180 pages of stunning photos from the photographers at National Geographic Kids. If you’ve got a budding veterinarian on your hands they’re sure to LOVE this book!
The book is separated by regions, for example, Mountains and Plains Babies, Desert and Coast Babies, and Karter’s absolute favorite, Ocean and Sea Babies, he is an island boy after all. Since Karter and I have been making our way through this beautiful book together, we’ve loved learning more about these adorable baby animals through poems, facts and folktales. We’re taking the book a few pages at a time and I’m impressed with how this book of animals has truly piqued my little guys interest.
One thing we’re really liked in particular is each section ends with a page titled “Tot Lot”. “Tot Lot” features a collection of animals from that particular region with facts and interesting features of each animal.
Did you know–Baby porcupines are called porcupettes? How cute is that?!
I’m a big fan of giving books as Holiday and Birthday gifts, and “Hey, Baby!” would genuinely make a really fantastic gift idea this holiday season, for any animal lover on your list, or a Mom-To-Be as well!
You can find “Hey, Baby!” is available to purchase wherever books are sold, including traditional bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million, as well as local independent stores, and mass merchants like Target, Costco, Walmart, Amazon, and shopng.com/books.
