Hey friends! This week I challenged my little lady, Kaylee to make the lunches. I recently launched a new networking group for the ladies of Honolulu and things have been super crazy around here. I keep our fridge and pantry pretty well stocked with healthy food options, so it’s easy to give her a simple formula for lunches and she can make the choices. Here’s my lunch formula: One main dish (sandwich, wraps, rollups etc.), one fruit, and one veg. and you can add a treat in too. Kids CAN pack a wholesome lunch if given good choices!
Here’s what she packed:
For this lunch Kaylee chose:
- Oven Roasted Chicken Breast and Cheddar Cheese on Wheat Bread
- Baby Carrots
- Green Grapes
- Annie’s Homegrown Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Packed in EasyLunchBoxes
I am constantly surprised by the wholesome choices the kids choose when given the opportunity. Like I said, I’ve been trying to cut out dyes in our family’s foods, I’ve been doing a lot of research on how they can effect kids’ behavior and I have definitely seen some results since cutting out the junk. By no means am I anti-treat, but I’m trying to offer alternatives that make for happy tummies and happy kids.
